Efforts to Achieve Carbon Neutrality by 2030 and 2050

In October 2020, Japan declared itself "carbon neutral by 2050." The era of addressing global warming as a constraint or cost to economic growth is over, and the international community now sees it as an opportunity for growth.

OTC is committed to achieving carbon neutrality in accordance with government policy.

2050 Goal

OTC takes on the challenge of becoming carbon neutral in 2050.

2030 Goal

The aim is to achieve a 46% reduction in FY2030 compared to FY2013.

OTC's Efforts

OTC has taken various energy-saving and CO2 reduction measures through proactive capital investment.
There is a risk of price increases in the electricity supply due to the increased share of renewable energy in the future, and technological developments related to energy conservation need to be further advanced.
To achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, developments are underway in the introduction of renewable energy, the use of storage batteries and hydrogen, and the development of CCUS*1 and DAC*2 technologies, which focus on the capture and use of carbon dioxide. OTC is working towards carbon neutrality by accurately identifying these development trends and implementing the introduction of technologies and equipment.

*2 DAC: An acronym of Direct Air Capture

Titanium and other high-performance materials are characterised by high corrosion resistance, long life, and light weight. By supplying products to a wide range of industries, including aerospace, semiconductors, information and communications, power and chemical plants, we are helping to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and will continue to do so.

Introducing Green Electricity

In January 2023, OTC switched to green electricity for all the electricity at the Kishiwada Works and the Tokyo Office. In May 2023, OTC expanded solar power generation at the Kishiwada Works (500 kW).

Activities at the Japan Titanium Society

The Japan Titanium Association (JTS) has expressed its "support for achieving carbon neutrality by 2050." OTC participates in the JTS Carbon Neutrality Subcommittee and is actively involved in its activities.

Participation in the GX League

OTC has decided to join the "GX League," a forum proposed by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. Through its participation, OTC aims to achieve carbon neutrality while helping to bring about a sustainable society by providing products that facilitate greenhouse gas reductions.
